Where are our products made?Updated 2 days ago

Our overarching aim is to minimise the environmental footprint associated with parasol use.

There are numerous approaches and decisions to be made towards this goal.

Garden furniture:
The wood we use—specifically robinia—is sawn and processed in Slovenia, as we source it from Slovenian forests. The entire manufacturing and assembly process for our Piano Piano garden furniture collection takes place in Lithuania. This country has the advantage of having one of the lowest CO2-emitting energy mixes in Europe. In the same spirit, we ship these products by sea via Northern Europe, rather than using road freight.

Parasols:
Our parasols are manufactured and assembled in China. Our ultimate goal is to reduce the environmental impact associated with parasol use. There are many possible strategies and approaches to achieve this.

Our approach is to focus on the design and distribution of parasols built to last. We want our products to be as durable as possible. Longer product lifespans mean less consumption and less waste. At the moment, producing our parasols in France would double the cost, and we believe many people would still opt for cheaper, disposable parasols—resulting in a greater environmental impact.

We acknowledge that our current strategy is open to criticism and is not without flaws.

That said, we want to go further. That’s why, in 2021, we hired someone dedicated to building a network of partners in France and across Europe to enable more local production. And it's working! We're launching a brand-new garden furniture collection, 100% sourced within the European Union, available for purchase in spring 2025.
